Here is one Fur Mommy’s Story:

I was at my wit’s end with my dog’s skin allergies and itching when a friend told me about Dr. Deva Khalsa. I’d forgotten that I’d read her article on the dangers of Apoquel in Dog’s Naturally magazine some years before.  

Because of all that great information, thankfully, I’d never used that drug with my dog.

But I’d done just about everything else… I’d sent in fur and saliva and done every on-line allergy test, along with all kinds of yeast treatments, remedies, herbs and a myriad of shampoos. 

My kitchen countertop was covered with stuff for Minnie, but I never got ahead.  I was at my vet’s office at least every other month for her ear infections which always seemed to return and she’d sometimes get oral antibiotics. In all my research and reading, I’d never understood that allergies in dogs and cats [whether they cause skin problems or diarrhea], can be cured.  I thought I had to spend our lives avoiding things!

Dr. Khalsa explained how the immune system was like a computer that logged in and remembered ‘enemies’ and how allergies are the result of a confused immune system that thinks foods or things in the environment are ‘enemies’ and that it simply needed to be reprogrammed to be normal again.

When Dr. Khalsa tested Minnie for allergies she found that she was allergic to wool [no-other test ever even checked for that and I had two small wool area rugs that Minnie loved to sleep on] and to cat dander [I have 3 cats]. Of course, Minnie was also allergic to a bunch of foods and outdoor allergens.  Dr. Khalsa tested thousands of things on Minnie and created a treatment kit designed exactly for her.  I did the program at home and Minnie truly looked forward to her treatments twice a day.  Right in my own home, I was ‘reprogramming’ her immune system back to normal.  The improvement was noticeable after just one week.

At the end of the program, which took about 6 weeks, Minnie was not allergic or sensitive or intolerant to any of them anymore. History of how Dr. Khalsa created and developed Allergy Elimination 4 Pets-

A TRUE CURE:  the immune system is a computer that logs in an enemy and all we have to do is clean up the ‘computer’!

My interest in holistic and alternative medicine began even before attending the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. After veterinary school, my ravenous appetite for learning holistic medicine only increased. I studied in England with George Macleod, a famous British Homeopath, who wrote many incredible books on veterinary homeopathy. Also again in England, I worked with the renowned homeopathic veterinarian, Christopher Day. I took many human homeopathy courses.There were very few holistic veterinarians in the 1980’s so I took loads of holistic seminars designed for humans and then adjusted the therapies for animals. In the early 90’s I was asked to be the Keynote Speaker at the first International Conference for Homeopathic Veterinarians in Oxford. I lectured at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine on Dermatology and Homeopathy. I was asked to speak at many veterinary conferences across the country on homeopathy.

Homeopathic remedies, in those days, would often work very well on pets with allergies. But as the decades passed, allergy problems had become so deeply embedded in the dog’s or cat’s system that homeopathic remedies alone were not enough.

My first acupuncture teacher was a very famous Chinese Acupuncturist who had moved from China to Russia to be the acupuncturist to Leonid Brezhnev, the Head of State of the Soviet Union. When he then moved to the United States I became his pupil and he regarded me as his first student in his new country. I studied with him for three years. The veterinary certification course for acupuncture was established by this time so I studied, took some very long exams and obtained my CVA (Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist Degree).
Acupuncture helped with allergies in dogs and cats but it was not enough. Patients needed an appointment every two weeks and oftentimes once a week to keep the allergies at bay. Once the acupuncture treatment stopped, the allergies returned.

Needless to say, I became proficient in and certified in many other holistic modalities. As this article is about allergies, we’ll keep to the subject!

Getting Closer

I then learned about NAET- (Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique). It was said to be able to make the allergic body into a healthy body with no allergies. I took the course with a Certified Instructor, Cathy Goldstein. The success gained with this technique was incredible. My practice was packed with patients who wanted this treatment and at times, I had a three-month waiting list even though I had other veterinarians working at my practice.

Learning More

I was so excited that I began to take every course I could in similar allergy elimination techniques. JMT (Jaffe Mellor Technique) had evolved from NAET and in this therapy pathogens, as well as allergens, were also tested for and treated. This particular technique additionally balanced patient’s systems while neutralizing the allergies. After 14 different certification courses in JMT, my ability to truly eliminate allergies in dogs and cats was astonishing. I also took AET (Allergy Elimination Technique) courses. NAET birthed all other allergy elimination techniques. Thus, the name, NAET, has become something like using the word Kleenex when you ask for a tissue. When we start using more acronyms such as JMT or AET it all gets to be too much for the non- doctors. Therefore, oftentimes NAET is the simplest word to use.
JMT tests and treats for allergies and also works with any pathogens in the body in addition to oftentimes curing autoimmune disease and helping with arthritis. Pathogens, particularly Lyme disease, are very important to handle in dogs with allergies.

There Were a Few Problems

The first was that all these therapies were designed for humans. The second was that with some patients, it took a long time, requiring a lot of appointments. I wanted to create a pet oriented therapy that would work more quickly.

At my practice in Pennsylvania, I began to send a treatment vial home with the client, asking them to treat their pets in between appointments to save both their time and money. I learned that people could do this at home and that it would work just fine.
I wanted a protocol that worked well and worked fast, something that would be easy to do by pet owners, something that was designed for a dog’s or cat’s needs and not for humans.
The folks who developed JMT and NAET were my friends and it stayed that way. What folks like us are most interested in is that our patients get better. Here is what they wrote about me.

Over the years, by accruing extensive clinical experience and using all the holistic modalities that I had learned, I developed an effective program specifically for our pets that could be used by pet owners in the peace and quiet of their own home. Also, it was affordable. The office visit for my practice in PA was 95 dollars and it oftentimes took 20 or more visits. Actually, no one seemed to mind and many folks traveled over an hour each way to come for their many visits. Remember, I often had a waiting list for new patients! The entire treatment program that I developed, including the testing and treatment for allergies, costs less than $350.00. When you compare this to the cost of expensive and, in many ways, dangerous medications now commonly used for allergies it’s a great opportunity to potentially cure your pet of allergies.

I’ve been doing this rather specific pet protocol for over 10 years and I’ve found it to be 85% effective. Sometimes a pet has a secondary yeast or bacterial infection that needs to be handled in addition to the allergies. Or sometimes something has to be tweaked at the end of the protocol.
